Yuanbao of Guangxu is one of the currency circulating in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Hubei Province and Guangdong Province, took the lead in introducing the British coinage machine to cast silver and copper coins, and then the provinces followed suit. A total of 19 provinces and bureaus cast copper coins. In addition to the central household and local provinces, the names of provinces are engraved on the upper edge of the front.

Guangxu Yuanbao is one of the best collections of silver coins in the collection field. Its circulation is determined by the amount of silver coins cast in each province. Among the 20 treasures of silver coins, there are many outstanding types. For example, the amount of silver coins cast by Guangdong Province and Fujian government bureau is very low, which is known as the treasure among the treasures.

1. Guangdong Province zaoguangxu Yuanbao

Among the modern silver coins in China, Guangdong Province made Guangxu Yuanbao bank, pingchong one or two, has long enjoyed a great reputation. The design of silver coins is exquisite and the casting is exquisite. The patterns include the word "Shou" and the pattern of two dragons playing with beads. Therefore, it is often called "Shou word one or two" or "Double Dragons one or two" in Guangdong. From the composition, it can be seen that the coin has very obvious traditional Chinese cultural characteristics: the characters of the whole coin are all Chinese, different from the Chinese and English double characters of other silver coins; on the front side, "Guangxu Yuanbao", there is a bat on both sides, which is homophonic with the word "Fu"; on the back side, in the middle of the picture of Erlong opera beads, there is a seal character "Shou", which means "Fu Shou Shuangquan", which belongs to "Da Fu" in China Implied meaning.

2. Guangxu Yuanbao made by Fujian Government Bureau

The history of minting silver coins in Fujian can be traced back to the reign of Zheng Chenggong in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty. Because it is located at the starting point of the maritime Silk Road and influenced by the wide circulation of silver coins in Spain and Mexico, silver coins in the name of military pay have been cast in Fujian and Taiwan since then, but they are all made by local methods, and the history of mechanism silver coins appears later.

In 1896, the Qing government approved the establishment of mints by the officials and gentry in Fujian Province to imitate the silver coins of Guangdong and Hubei provinces. In October of the same year, the Mint was suspended under the urgent order of the Qing government. The governor of Fujian immediately recovered the right of coinage because of the reasons for the suspension or the nature of the joint operation of the officials and the gentry. It is generally believed that during this period, seven silver coins and two silver coins were cast on trial, and some of them survived in kind.
